THE WONDERFUL BURDEN  OF FREEDOM

Does freedom matter? It's such an overused word that it’s easy to overlook how the choices we make from morning to night turn us, little by little, into the person we are.
So, we flee from our own freedom:
– We say stuff like ‘I have to go to the gym’ even though going to the gym is our choice
– We try to make choices as though we could have it both ways, never having to say ‘no’
– We hunt for advice; for someone to follow who will take away the uncertainty of living

This odyssey will help you embrace the hard, thrilling reality that you determine what kind of a person you are through the choices you make.
We’ll talk about:

– the significance of the ways we fall in love, work, and dress,

– the tremendous pressure of social and political influence on our choices, and

– how we can take back our power, together.

This odyssey combines:
– Revolutionary ideas from Existentialism and related branches of philosophy
– Games to collaboratively imagine new ways of living
– Reflections and experiments to help you understand your relationships, work, and habits
– Final mission options including essays, performance, or a change management plan

– One-to-one support

Mondays from 18:30–20:00, Oct 6th to Dec 8th at MayDay Rooms, London

+ videos and activities to do on your own time

WHAT IS AN ODYSSEY?

"We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." - T.S. Eliot

Other organisations might call it a course. We call it an odyssey.

It's a journey we will take together over several weeks, involving videos, mini-experiments, and homeplay to do on your own time, together with weekly discussions and games with your fellow adventurers, and your choice of a capstone project such as a piece of writing, a performance, or a change management plan.
